Benefits Of Castor Oil

From the shores of Eastern Africa comes an oil with therapeutic properties called castor oil.

The Ricinus communis is a foliage plant with palm shaped leaves. It was first discovered growing in the region of Ethiopia in Eastern Africa. At present India and Brazil are the two main countries which produce this plant in large scale.

Ricinus communis is one of the most poisonous plants in the world since it bears oval shaped seeds called castor beans which contain a toxin known as ricin.

So what is ricin? Ricin is actually the by product left over when oil is extracted from castor beans. You can read more about ricin here.

The oil extracted from castor beans is called ‘castor oil’ and has been used since ancient times to treat a variety of ailments such as constipation, skin problems, to reduce inflammation, to promote healthy, shiny hair and improve digestion.
The two methods used to extract castor oil from castor beans are solvent extraction or by pressing the castor beans through a machine.

The good news is when castor oil is extracted from castor beans it does not get mixed with ricin. The ricin comes out separate as mash and does not merge with the oil.

The use of castor oil since traditional times to treat constipation has made it a popular laxative to be used even today to stimulate bowel movements.

Castor oil should only be taken orally with the advice of your health care provider/doctor. Never take more than the recommended dosage. Keep in mind that it can take between 4 to 8 hours to have a bowel movement after taking the oil. Castor oil is usually taken on an empty stomach for best results.

To treat corns first clean the area with warm water. Pat dry with some gauze or soft cloth and apply castor oil on the corns. Cover the corns with an adhesive tape if possible. Do this treatment in the morning and before going to bed at night.

For warts first wash the area with warm water and pat dry with some gauze or soft cloth. Massage some castor oil on the wart for a few minutes. Then cover with a bandage. Do this treatment twice a day: morning and evening (preferably before going to bed at night).

If you’re suffering from joint, muscle pains or abdominal pain place a castor oil pack on the area for 10 to 15 minutes. To make a castor oil pack you need he following:

Castor oil
Kitchen towel/wash cloth
Hot water

First soak a soft piece of cloth or flannel in the oil. Lay the cloth on the area the pain is coming from: abdomen, joints or muscles. Soak the kitchen towel or wash cloth in the hot water and place over the soaked piece of castor oil cloth and ferment several times.

Castor Oil Can Be Used To Stimulate the Growth of Thick Healthy Shiny Hair

Put 3 tablespoons of castor oil in a cup. Set aside.

Take a glass bowl and pour hot water into it. Gently place the cup into the hot water to heat the oil. Make sure the hot water does not overflow into the cup. Reduce the hot water if necessary.

Remove the cup from the hot water when oil is warm and massage into the scalp, roots and ends. Massage for 2 to 3 minutes. When done wrap the hair in a towel or shower cap and leave overnight. Next day rinse the hair with warm water and mild baby shampoo. Do this treatment twice a week.

Here in Sri lanka certain stores sell Nescafe coffee sachets.
These sachets are ideal to be used in making a face mask that treats rough dry skin hence leaving it soft smooth and supple.
Just take a sachet (about a teaspoon) and pour its contents into a clean bowl. Then stir in 1 tablespoon pure honey. Apply the mixture on face and leave for 15 to 20 minutes. Next rinse off with lukewarm water and a washcloth.

Coffee and honey when used together on skin can help blood circulation plus it absorbs bacteria and dead skin that’s responsible for dry rough skin.

Homemade Green Tea Ginger for a Healthy Liver and Weight Loss

Are you suffering from belly fat?
Have you tried exercising, dieting and even pills but none of them worked?
One reason could be that your liver cells have accumulated too much fat.
When we consume meals having more fat than our body can handle, the extra fat ends up in the liver. This can trigger the appearance of fat in the belly, thighs, arms and legs.
Abdominal fat is one of the hardest to lose. Stubborn abdominal fat must first be loosened before it can be removed from the body.
Two ways this can be done is to sip about 4 glasses of water upon wakening up in the morning and to also drink 2 cups of green tea with ginger slices twice a day.

You should also aim to sip atleast an additional 4 to 6 glasses of water throughout the day. You will be amazed at how much fat gets removed from the body within a short period of time.
Sipping water instead of gulping it down helps to remove toxins in the body in a healthy way.

Gulping down water is a big no no! Google the reason and you will be amaz…
