Neck pain is caused be tensed muscles which are the result of bad posture. Bad posture puts a strain on the neck muscles. For example incorrect sleeping positions can trigger of neck pain and so can slouching while sitting.
Neck pain can be quite unbearable and its always best to treat it as soon as possible. One way of doing so is to soak in a bath of warm water for 20 minutes which has ½ a cup of Epsom salt added to it. You can use a rolled up towel as your head rest while soaking in the bath.

Next Tilts – slant the head to the right and hold for 10 seconds then come back to original position and tilt to the left side and hold for 10 seconds. Repeat 5 times.
Neck Rotations – Turn the head to the right hold for 10 seconds and turn to the left and hold again for 5 seconds. Repeat 5 times.
